Pakistan announces free SIM cards for Hajj 2026 pilgrims

The government of Pakistan has announced a major facilitation measure for pilgrims undertaking Hajj 2026 under the government scheme, providing free SIM cards to all intending pilgrims.
According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, pilgrims on the 40-day Hajj package will receive 600 minutes of call time along with 40 GB of internet data. Those opting for the shorter Hajj package will be provided 300 minutes of calls and 25 GB of mobile data.
Officials said the initiative is designed to help pilgrims stay connected with their families and relevant authorities during their stay in Saudi Arabia, making their journey more convenient and better coordinated.
Each pilgrim will be issued only one SIM card based on their passport details. Authorities warned that obtaining additional SIM cards could result in cancellation of the connection to prevent misuse.
The SIM cards will be distributed upon arrival in Saudi Arabia at designated accommodation centres or facilitation points. Recharge options will also be available if required during the pilgrimage.
Officials further stated that the Hajj flight operations are expected to begin from April 18, with approximately 120,000 Pakistani pilgrims expected to perform Hajj this year.
The announcement is part of broader efforts by the government to improve services for pilgrims and ensure smooth logistics during one of the largest annual religious gatherings in the world.
Authorities added that coordination with Saudi counterparts has been strengthened to ensure better communication facilities and improved management for Pakistani pilgrims throughout their stay.
